Tampa, FL - An unprecedented two-minute ad that will premiere on Tampa stations Wednesday reveals Republican candidate Rick Scott's lengthy record of unethical business practices.
The two-minute documentary-style ad unveiled today by Alex Sink is unprecedented in Florida elections. Members of the Police Benevolent Association joined Alex Sink to premiere the documentary.
The new ad provides detailed background on Ricks Scott’s record: from the $1.7 billion in fraud fines against his company to his repeated refusal to explain why he took the Fifth Amendment 75 times in a deposition, including on a question about his company’s Medicare fraud.
“The people of Florida deserve to be told the truth about Rick Scott’s record of fraud.  While a two minute ad is unprecedented in Florida elections, 30 seconds just wasn’t enough time to tell his whole story,” said Sink Press Secretary Kyra Jennings. “Scott refuses to take questions, he refuses to talk to the media, and he pled the Fifth 75 times to avoid incriminating himself.”
Sink's campaign said the ad was released in response to Scott’s deceptive and dishonest attacks. According to newspapers across the state, Scott has misled the people of Florida through millions of dollars of false TV ads, and at last Friday’s gubernatorial debate Scott continued his pattern of deception.
Leading newspapers have blasted Scott for his unethical record and smears – The St. Petersburg Times wrote that Scott’s tactics are “a cynical attempt to silence questions about Scott’s role in illegal activities … and voters should see through it.”
“It’s time Floridians learn about his past and realize that his unethical background makes him wholly unfit to hold our state’s highest office,” Jennings said.
The new, two-minute documentary, dubbed the ‘Fraud Files’, will premiere in Tampa on Wednesday evening during local television newscasts; it can also be viewed below.
